Opera Asia had the honour of hosting the Sumi Jo International Singing Competition Asia Pre-selection Singapore at The Chamber, The Arts House at the Old Parliament in Singapore. The competition brought together 37 participants from Southeast Asia and East Asia up to 33 years old, offering emerging classical singers a platform to perform, be heard, and connect with an international pathway.

Following jury deliberation, Seugho Yoo and Hengyue Qiu were selected from a strong field of young artists to represent the Singapore Pre-selection at the Sumi Jo International Singing Competition Grand Finals in France, scheduled for July 2026 at the Château de la Ferté-Imbault in the Loire Valley. The competition opened with remarks by Maestra Sumi Jo and was adjudicated by a distinguished jury comprising Sumi Jo, Nancy Yuen, Peter Edelmann, André Bücker, and Dr. Fueanglada Organ Prawang Carlson. Other identified talents were also offered further opportunities by members of the jury.
