Opera Asia also supported an internal casting audition for André Bücker, General Intendant of Staatstheater Augsburg, as part of its wider artist-development work. The singers heard in Singapore were selected from an earlier Opera Asia-supported audition in Guangzhou, sponsored and co-organised by Guangzhou Ruri Fengshan Arts Company, with a selection panel led by Heather Tan representing Staatstheater Augsburg and joined by vocal educators including Prof. Valentin Lanzrein, Prof. Liu Gang, Prof. Guo Guo Er, Prof. Shuyi, and Prof. Zhang Xiao Yu.
